Fighting Bacteria

When it comes to fighting off bacterial viruses, Chinese green tea is an excellent option. However, new studies also show that white tea and white tea extract have an antiviral effect on people, specific to pathogenic viruses. In fact, this type of healthy tea extract is now being added to some toothpaste brands, serving as an oral antimicrobial for better health.

Green tea, loose black tea, oolong tea, and Chinese white tea all come from the Camellia sinensis plant. For white tea, the leaves are harvested while still very young, a time when the buds are covered with a white “hair like” substance, thus the name. This Chinese herbal tea is grown and harvested primarily in China, specifically the Fujian Province, where this form of tea has actually been grown for hundreds of years.

Growing Environment of White Tea

This plant grows throughout China where they receive a significant amount of sun and rain. Because of the perfect environment in which the Camellia sinensis plant is grown, white tea ends up with outstanding properties. One of the best varieties known is called Silver Needle, which is made from the buds only. Every bud is handpicked from the plant but only during March 15 and April 10, a time when the buds have become ideal for the most incredible flavored tea.

Other types of white tea are made with the buds and leaves, which are first withered for a few hours and then dried in the open air. The outside temperature and moisture content in the air also work to produce amazing flavor and healing properties of this specialty tea. Tea growers understand the balance that must take place for indoor and solar withering so the tea comes out to perfection.

The benefits of Chinese white tea is that it can be enjoyed any time day or night, hot or cold, and in the summer or winter. More and more people have discovered the beautiful balance of this exotic tea, which promotes peace and relaxation. Just sitting down with a cup of tea creates a tranquil atmosphere or it can be enjoyed while sitting around with friends. White tea also helps improve concentration and improve overall mood.

It is believed that Chinese herbal tea was discovered by Emperor Shen Nung of China in 2737 BC. While camping near the forest, he was walking around while his servant began to boil water over the fire. Wind whipped up, causing a leaf from the tea plan, otherwise known as the Camilla sinensis plant to fall into the water. Since Nung was also an herbalist, he decided to leave it to brew.

From the Beginning

Ever since that day some 4,000 years ago, tea has been revered for its healing properties, as well as being a great beverage, hot or cold. It was during the 3rd century that word started spreading about all the benefits from herbal tea and even documents were written. However, it would not be until 618 AD during China’s Tang Dynasty that this beverage became known as Chinese herbal tea, the country’s official drink. At that time, tea was called ch’a.

From China, the popularity of exotic tea spread throughout the world, reaching Russia where it was popular in tea rooms, Japan, the beverage used in official tea ceremonies, and even to Britain where it was enjoyed and sold in quaint tea shops. For several hundred years, people were introduced to the rejuvenating and soothing flavor and effects associated with tea in general.

Refreshing and Delicious

One of the biggest benefits of drinking different types of tea, such as white tea or the best green tea is the refreshing flavor. When nothing is added, tea also offers no calories, great for a cold beverage without unwanted calories. To give you an idea of what these special teas offer, if you were to add a slight amount of milk, four cups would provide 17% of the daily recommended dose for calcium, 22% of vitamin B2, and 5% of zinc, folic acid, and vitamins B1 and B6.

You will also find that many types of herbal tea are rich in potassium, great to maintain fluid needed in the body, as well as magnesium, which is required for proper development. As you can see, Chinese herbal tea is truly an amazing beverage, one that everyone can enjoy thanks to the wide variety of choices.

Today, millions of people are trying to lose weight. To accomplish this goal, it requires a lifetime of changes. The key to losing weight is to consume a lower number of calories than what the body needs to function. This way, stored fat is used as energy. Drinking tea can also make it easier to drop unwanted pounds.

Therefore, cutting down on calorie intake is the first step. Obviously, you still need to eat enough food to provide the body with nutrition so you need to cut calories but without putting your body at risk. A great way to burn calories is with exercise. Just 30 minutes a day would boost metabolism so you lose weight.

For long-term increase of the body’s metabolic rate, lifting weights is an excellent option. Remember that muscle uses a high amount of calories, even when not being used. Therefore, to continually burn calories, it helps to increase muscle mass.

Increasing Metabolism

If you are working on dropping unwanted pounds, boosting your metabolism is essential. Now, as mentioned, you want to reduce calorie intake but not too much. The reason is that when you reduce calories significantly, the body automatically slows down and begins saving the calories as fat since it believes it is being starved. In fact, the more you cut out calories the slower you will lose weight.

Instead, the key is losing weight is to reduce your calorie intake a little and then use exercise to burn additional calories. Remember, exercise increases the body’s metabolic rate, which makes burning calories more efficient.

Losing Weight with Tea

Another secret that many people are still unaware of for losing weight is by drinking healthy tea. Study after study show that some types of tea, such as Chinese Black tea increase metabolic rate. Additionally, various forms of herbal tea eliminate the absorption of fat coming from your diet.

Reducing the amount of fat your body stores helps with weight loss and drinking tea accomplishes that. In addition, this means cholesterol levels are also lowered. After all, when triglycerides, which are a type of fat begins to increase, your cholesterol level would also increase.

However, the greatest quality tea has associated with weight loss is increasing metabolism. It has been believed that drinking Chinese tea, green tea, loose white tea, oolong tea, and loose black tea helps with controlling weight. While more studies are needed, it appears there is a direct correlation between the two.

Other benefits of drinking tea that have been identified include slowing down the aging process and preventing disease. Because of this, a tremendous amount of research has gone into research specific to tea.

Beneficial Antioxidants

A number of studies show that Chinese green tea helps prevent cancer and heart disease. The reason is that green tea is loaded with antioxidants, which are vital to good health.

Antioxidants fight free radicals, which are the result of a byproduct associated with the digestive system. Carrying oxygen that contains molecules to the cellular structure of the body and DNA is what free radicals do. However, if you were to eat a diet containing antioxidants, damage caused by free radicals would be eliminated.

Many plant sources contain antioxidants such as fresh fruits and vegetables and while beneficial, tea is by far the best way of getting antioxidants into the body. This is why tea has become increasingly popular over the years.

Japanese Study

In Japan, the University of Tokushima conducted a study to determine the effect of tea on the way the body burns calories. This particular study focused on men that were stopped from drinking tea containing caffeine and antioxidants for four days.

Prior to the study, the men were examined to determine the number of calories they typically burned on a daily basis. Then, for a period of three days, these men ate a standard American diet. In addition, four groups were created, each being given a different regime that includes:

Water

Water, with 270 milligrams of caffeine (similar to what tea contains)

Tea, at full strength

Tea, at half strength

The study then compared the men who drank water with those that drank the full strength tea. The results showed an increase of energy expenditure of 2.9%. However, men that drank the water containing caffeine saw an even greater increase of 3.4%.

Now, for the group of men that drank the full strength tea, fax oxidation was also increased, 12% more than men that drank only water. Interestingly, fax oxidation at this level was not seen in the men that were given the water containing caffeine.

The study suggests that while caffeine can boost the body’s metabolism, it is not enough to help with weight loss. However, tea, which contains caffeine, as well as antioxidants, shows a significant connection with weight loss.

We know that tea is a healthy beverage, which is why people all over the world drink it. However, using tea to lose weight is not only effective but it is also safe. Therefore, including tea as a part of your weight loss program would help you drop unwanted pounds faster.

Chinese white tea is without doubt one of the fastest growing teas from the point of popularity. People all over the world who love tea are amazed at all the unique varieties. Because of this, we see more and more tea companies now providing samples. Although China produces most of the world’s white tea, Japan is also become a large producer.

Along with these two Asian countries, we also see other countries now growing white tea to include India and Sri Lanka. The challenge is that while many people understand white tea grown in Asia, they are unfamiliar with this kind of tea coming from any other country. However, as the popularity of white tea continues to expand, it will not be long before white tea from all countries is recognized.

Tea from Ceylon Sri Lanka

The colonial name of Sri Lanka is Ceylon, which is a country ranked as the third largest producer of tea. While loose black tea is the most common type coming out of Sri Lanka because of the more than one million people living there that love it, we are now seeing new varieties produced. Known as Ceylon tea, it accounts for almost 20% of tea consumed around the world.

In the highlands of Sri Lanka, tea has been grown for 4,000 years. One of the things that make black tea from Sri Lanka different from Chinese black tea is that it can be harvested all year. For white tea, this is grown near Adam’s Peak near the region of Nuwara Eliya, which is about high above sea level.

Flavor of Ceylon Tea

Another unique aspect of Ceylon tea, regardless of type is that the flavor is very distinct from tea grown in Asia and India. For one thing, Ceylon tea has a mild flavor and aroma. Then for white tea grown in Ceylon, the color is also unique, being more of a gold or copper color and the flavor has a hint of pine and honey.

The harvesting process of Ceylon white tea involves all of the leaves being hand rolled. This process includes the leaves being laid out to dry and wither in direct sunlight. Keep in mind that while this type of exotic tea is grown in Ceylon, only a very small part of the country is involved, which makes it rare and expensive. Unlike other countries where white tea is produced in mass quantities, it is farmed very little in Ceylon, making it the costliest of all white tea grown.

Tea from Darjeeling India

In the northeast part of Indian is a region called Darjeeling, which is situated in the Himalayas foothills sitting in between Bhutan, Nepal, and Sikkim. Of all places in the world that produces tea, Darjeeling is one of the best known, producing tea with a wonderful and distinct flavor. With more than 80 tea gardens spread out, approximately 52,000 people from Nepal work the fields and an additional 15,000 help plucking in the spring part-time.

Teas produced in Darjeeling are often referred to as “Champagne of Teas” because the flavor is so different from other types of exotic tea. With the cool and moist climate of this region, the rich, fertile soil, heavy rainfall, and gently sloping hills, these gardens produce some of the most distinct, healthy tea in the world.

If you have ever had a cup of black tea from Darjeeling but were unimpressed, chances are the tea was labeled as being from this part of the world but a blend and not solely black tea leaves. Today, some 10,000 pounds of Darjeeling tea is produced but tea sold with labels of Darjeeling tea account for about 40,000 pounds. Therefore, when you purchase this type of tea, make sure you pay close attention to the label so you know exactly what you are buying.

When looking at black tea from this region versus white tea, you will find that white tea is rarer. The flavor is delicate and mild, and with a hint of sweetness. When brewed, Darjeeling white tea turns a light gold color. Keep in mind that this type of tea is not as compacted as other loose leaf tea so to make a cup, you would need more leaves but without causing the strength to be greater.

Interestingly, most people that love black tea from this region also love the white tea, finding that when compared to white tea from other parts of the world, it has more body and flavor.

You can sample Darjeeling white tea to see for yourself, which is recommended. We recommend the first tea you try is Darjeeling White tips, which is slightly sweet and delicious. Do not be discouraged if you have tried white tea from other parts of the world only to feel the flavor is lacking because with Darjeeling tea, you get something completely different.

Value of Ceylon and India Tea

Unfortunately, herbal tea from Ceylon and India is overlooked because many people still believe they can only purchase white tea from Asia. The truth is that while all white tea is amazing, tea that comes from Ceylon and India is believed to be among the best. Therefore, as you begin looking to buy tea online, try samples from several different regions to include Ceylon and Darjeeling so you can experience this type of tea to the fullest.

For one reason or another, the process associated with decaffeinated tea has long been misunderstood, not just by consumers who enjoy tea but also by experts in the tea industry. In fact, a recently released publication that was written by a professional in this industry provided inaccurate information specific to the process of making decaffeinated tea.

With so much wrong information being circulated, most people in the tea industry are now analyzing their own understanding of decaffeinated tea processing to uncover the truth. Without doubt, one person that can answer questions and make the process clear is Joe Simrany who is the Tea Association of the USA’s president, an authority when it comes to tea.

Some experts are getting confirmation that what they believed to be true is but some find that some of the details pertaining to processing of decaffeinated tea needed to be fine tuned. For starters, when it comes to tea, any kind of tea such as Chinese green tea, Jasmine tea, Chai tea, or any type of flowering tea, herbal tea, or exotic tea, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not provide regulation. This means following and sticking to the standards within the tea industry is solely on a voluntary basis.

When it comes to tea, this means that the FDA does not have a set of guidelines established. However, for the best practices, tea growers and buyers do depend on expert advice that comes from the Tea Association Technical Committee or TACT. This organization is not sanctioned nor does it follow any laws if someone does not comply with recommendations.

Okay, so many people question what happens then a supplier or company sells tea as being decaffeinated when in fact it is not. For starters, if this problem is identified, the Tea Association of the USA should be contacted to see if they could assist in a diplomatic way. If that organization is unsuccessful, the Food and Drug Administration should be notified. Even though they have no legal recourse, this government entity would likely perform a follow-up to see if processing changes are needed.

Decaffeinated Tea Processing Guidelines

As you will see from this information, certain guidelines do exist specific to processing decaffeinated tea, which includes the following:

“Decaffeinated” Labeling – Any type of tea that is labeled as decaffeinated should contain no more than 0.4% caffeine when weighing the tea dry

“Caffeine Free Tea” – Any tea with a label such as this should be avoided in that the phrase is inappropriate no matter the level of decaffeination processing

Remember, when it comes to decaffeinating fresh tea leaves, only two methods are approved. The first is using a solvent such as ethyl acetate or carbon dioxide to extract the caffeine. This type of method actually works and while it sounds dangerous, in truth, the tea would not be considered toxic or hazardous. Of the two solvents, carbon dioxide is the preferred method in that it maintains the integrity of the tea’s flavor and health benefits.

Tea that has been decaffeinated contains between one-third and two-thirds fewer benefits than what you would get from tea with caffeine. As you look at labels for decaffeinated tea, you will find that when the extraction method is used, whether with ethyl acetate or carbon dioxide, the label would read “natural”. The reason for this is that both components would exist in trace levels.

The second process for decaffeinated tea is known as the Swiss Water Process. While this is not recognized by the tea industry in that no proof has been found to show it is any more effective than pouring the first brew away. With this type of “water process”, the tea would be infused for about 30 seconds after which time the infusion would be poured off. After that, the loose tea leaves would be steeped normally. This method does eliminate caffeine but the problem is no one is certain to what degree.

Interesting Tea Facts

If you love green tea as an example, when you buy green tea bags, you would actually get a higher level of caffeine when steeping a cup than you would with loose leaf tea simply because tea bags infuse faster. In addition, the amount of loose tea leaves you use, along with the amount of time you brew and even the temperature of the water all play a role in the level of caffeine you end up with in your cup.

Other factors that have an impact in the amount of caffeine you end up with in your cup include the method of cultivation, various environmental factors, the region where the tea was grown, and climate. Although you would have no control over these factors, understanding your supplier or the tea companies where you buy would certainly help.

The one time when coffee has a lower level of caffeine than tea is just before it is brewed. For instance, one pound of loose leaf tea would produce approximately 200 cups whereas one cup of coffee beans would only give you about 50 cups.

The only process for decaffeinated tea that is approved by the US government is using ethyl acetate or carbon dioxide for extraction. You might find some products that have used methylene chloride, which is not approved by the government.

Although the selection of decaffeinated tea is still somewhat limited, many of the top online tea companies and local specialty shops are now providing a great variety that uses the carbon dioxide method of processing.

The bottom line is that we see a growing number of people wanting to eat healthier foods and beverages. These people depend on labels so decaffeinated tea needs to provide information about processing that is not inaccurate or misleading. Chances are if you purchase your tea from a reputable source and stick with quality loose leaves, you will benefit from the wonderful flavor and healing properties even if the tea is decaffeinated.

Although there are thousands of tea blends available, one that is definitely worth trying is called Jasmine tea. While considered one of the top choices throughout China, we now see other countries all over the world discovering the delicious and slightly sweet flavor of this tea blend.

The Making of Jasmine Tea

To make Jasmine tea, high quality loose leaf tea is used along with petals from the Jasmine plant. Because of the two, the tea ends up with a delicate, floral fragrance and flavor, making it different from other types of tea on the market.

Tea Production in China

It is estimated that Jasmine tea was first produced in China some 700 years ago, which involved blossoms from the Jasmine plant being plucked just prior to blooms appearing. From there, tea leaves were added at nighttime, which created the most amazing infusion of both flavor and aroma. Typically, the tea is scented with the blossoms twice, using fresh blossoms each time to create the finest quality.

Although Jasmine flower tea can be made from any base tea, it is usually blended with Chinese green tea, making it both delicious and healthy. Studies have been conducted for years showing that loose green tea is much healthier than Chinese black tea due to processing. For instance, loose green tea is not fermented whereas black tea is. This process converts antioxidants in the leaves to other compounds and while loose black tea is healthy, the fermentation process lowers the level of antioxidants.

Healthy Antioxidants

Antioxidants are vital to good health in that they neutralize free radicals, which are molecules that carry oxygen and cause all types of damage to the body. When free radicals are not controlled, they move through the body, wrecking havoc on DNA and the cellular system. Because of this, the aging process is sped up and serious disease can develop.

This is why keeping free radicals in check is vital to good health. Therefore, using green tea as the base for making Jasmine tea is the best choice since this type of tea has a very high level of antioxidants. Then, eating fresh fruits and vegetables would add even more antioxidants to the body, promoting ultimate health.

Many studies have been done in recent years and the findings specific to green tea are amazing. This one type of tea can not only prevent colon, breast, pancreatic, lung, and other types of cancer but also help fight it. Other benefits of this healthy tea include promoting weight loss and lowering body fat.

The primary benefits associated with green tea include the prevention of high cholesterol, blood clots, high blood pressure, heart disease, and again, cancer. Studies also show that drinking green tea daily can help insulin in the body become regulated, great for individuals with Diabetes.

Types of Jasmine Tea

One of the best ways to enjoy delicious green tea is by drinking Jasmine tea that uses green tea as the base. In addition to an amazing flavor, the aroma of Jasmine tea is also soothing. Then when you consider all the health benefits, you can see that Jasmine tea is a perfect choice.

Now, if you are not fond of green tea, remember that Jasmine tea is made with other tea varieties, especially oolong. For instance, oolong tea is also processed different from the way black tea is processed in that it is only partially fermented whereas black tea is fully fermented. For oolong, the fermentation is carefully done to the point where 30% of the leaves are red and 70% green.

Being able to stop the process of fermentation at the exact time is what gives oolong tea its unique but wonderful flavor. Interestingly, most oolong teas use charcoal during the drying phase, which creates a slightly smoky flavor. Therefore, if you choose Jasmine tea made with oolong tea, you have a unique blend of smoky with sweet.

Of course, white tea can also be used to make Jasmine tea and while white tea is growing in popularity, it is still difficult to find. This type of tea has a delicate flavor with a hint of sweetness. Because of this, white tea is loved by everyone who tries it. If you choose oolong Jasmine tea, you will find this to be very light while still providing excellent health benefits.

Even high quality black tea can be used to make Jasmine tea but with black tea being full-bodied, the flavor would be bolder. Keep in mind that with the blend of the Jasmine petals and black tea, while bolder, the tea still has a soothing, floral fragrance, and flavor.

With so many possibilities, Jasmine tea has quickly become a favorite. This blend is very easy to make and easy to find. Since Jasmine tea is quite common, it is important to purchase only from reputable tea companies, those that sell only the finest quality tea available.

Tips for Buying Jasmine Tea

When looking for the best quality when you buy tea online, make sure the petals from the Jasmine plant are real and that whatever base tea is used is high quality, as well. Another tip for buying Jasmine tea is purchase only teas that use tightly rolled green tea pearls blended with the petals, sometimes referred to as Jasmine pearl tea.

Keep in mind that as you shop for Jasmine tea, you will also find many tea companies use other flavors to create something new. However, the focus in choosing Jasmine tea is for the petals to make up the fragrance and the tealeaves to make up the flavor. Therefore, if other flavors are added, it is important that the blend be done properly not to overshadow the fragrance and flavor.

It is common to find many tea companies selling Jasmine tea that has been blended with flavorings such as orange, vanilla, and rose. All of these are light and soothing but again, the additional flavor should be subtle so it does not overpower the petal fragrance and tea flavor.

Regardless of the type of Jasmine tea you decide to try, chances are you will love everything about it. In fact, you might look for samples made with oolong, black, white, and green tea so you can taste each and find the one you like best.

Today, one of the most popular types of tea is white tea. For hundreds of years, white tea was only consumed in Asian countries. Traditionally, this kind of tea was used only for tea ceremonies and other special occasions because it was so rare. However, with growing demand, more and more growers are now harvesting white tea, which makes it easier to find and more affordable.

Interestingly, Chinese white tea is grown from the Camellia sinensis plant, which is the same plant that loose black tea, loose green tea, and loose oolong tea come from but white tea is only harvested once a year, early in spring. In addition, white tea leaves are harvested prior to the leaves opening all the way and it uses the buds, which are covered with “white hair”, thus the name. Because of this, white tea is very mild and since it goes through minimal processes, this kind of tea is unfermented.

Flavor of White Tea

To process white tea, the leaves are steamed and the dried. Depending on the grower, sometimes the leaves are steamed in the fields and then left out to dry in sunlight. With this, the delicate flavor is even better.

While people love black tea and green tea, white tea is very delicate and it offers a smooth aroma. When brewed, the color is very pale and the taste is slightly sweet. Because of the flavor, which is not grassy like green tea or bold like black tea is it considered the perfect in between choice.

The delicate, sweet flavor and soothing aroma has made this a very popular choice, appealing to a large number of tea drinkers.

Health Benefits of White Tea

Along with the delicate flavor that white tea offers, it is also one of the healthiest. Numerous studies have been done on this type of healthy tea and the results prove that it is actually much healthier than green tea is. With the medicinal properties, white tea can slow down the aging process and even prevent and fight a number of serious health problems to include heart disease and cancer.

Studies show is that because of the way white tea is processed, it contains a high level of antioxidants, even more than green tea so it has more healing power. Therefore, the antioxidants found in the loose leaves and without white tea being fermented, it is highly effective and contains low levels of caffeine.

Not being fermented like green, black, and oolong tea, the level of antioxidants are much higher. This helps white tea to prevent and fight disease. When you consider all the research about green tea and its health benefits, you can see that white tea is even more effective.

Another benefit of white tea is that it boosts the body’s immune system. This means that different types of bacteria and viruses are prevented. Then, it has also been found that white tea contains a high level of fluoride. Because of this, it can fight plaque and tooth decay.

Buying White Tea

If you have never taken the opportunity to taste white tea, this is the time. Remember, you can purchase quality tea in many varieties and blends from top tea companies online. With white tea being grown in fewer tea gardens than green or black tea and with it only producing one crop a year, opposed to three or four crops for other types of tea, it remains one of the rarer types of exotic tea.

Even if you have a great, tea store near your home, you would find better quality and more options of white tea when you buy tea online. Two of the more popular choices include White Peony and Silver Needles. Both are delicious and are excellent for hot or cold beverages.

Popular Blends

In addition to purchasing plain white tea, you can also look at options for blends. In this case, quality white tea would be the base but flavors would be added. The way the tea is flavored is with flowers, herbs, essential oils, and even other teas. For instance, the following are some of the better options:

Ginger White Tea – Using white tea as the base, ginger is added, which gives it a spicy flavor. The health benefits are also incredible. Remember, white tea increases the body’s immune system but then ginger also offers medicinal properties such as calming stomachaches, reducing or eliminating nausea associated with morning or motion sickness, and even sickness that come along with chemotherapy. These healing properties combined make a great drink for you or as a gift to someone you know having a baby or going through cancer treatment.

White Licorice Tea – Another popular option is again, white tea as the base with star anise added. The added health benefit of star anise is that it too helps calm down stomachaches, reduces and eliminates coughs, and works as a natural expectorant. For the best quality, you want to buy white tea that contains whole pieces of star anise, which gives you the boldest flavor and aroma.

White Persian Melon Tea – This type of white tea blend is refreshing and delicious. Along with the health benefits of white tea, melon adds a nice fruity flavor that is refreshing. In addition, the melon makes the tea slightly sweeter. While White Persian Melon Tea can be enjoyed hot, it makes an excellent blend for cold tea.

When looking for white tea online, remember that you will find many additional blends from the three we mentioned. Just be sure you buy the highest quality you can find and if possible, a company that would send out small samples for a nominal fee so you can determine the exact blend you love most.

If you have never sipped on White Persian Melon Tea, then you need to locate a company that sells it in that this is without doubt one of the most amazing blends made. Using high quality loose tea leaves that are flavored with melon nectar, you end up with tea that is unlike any other.

Just as with loose black tea, loose white tea, loose oolong tea, or loose black tea, even White Persian Melon Tea is sold in different quality levels.

Quality Components of Tea

For one thing, the best kind of tea needs to be made with quality leaves but also the best melon flavoring available.

Another factor that would determine the quality of White Persian Melon Tea is the time of year and the way in which leaves are plucked from the Camellia sinensis plant. While this helps, there are other ways to identify quality tea from inferior tea.

Harvesting White Tea

Since Chinese white tea is only harvested once a year for two weeks in the month of March going into April, it is rare. At that time, skilled workers will pull the top two leaves from the plant and the first buds, taking care not to cause damage. The leaves and buds must be harvested under the strictest conditions.

The weather for harvesting white tea must be completely dry, meaning no frost from the previous night and no dew on the ground in the morning. Additionally, unlike other types of healthy tea, white tea must be made with the first pluckings. However, Chinese black tea, oolong and green tea are plucked several times throughout the year whereas white tea just once.

This information is important when buying White Persian Melon Tea in that you need to learn about different white tea varieties, as well as the way in which this tea is harvested and processed so you can identify quality. White tea comes in many different varieties, each slightly different depending on the company and region where grown.

White Tea Varieties

Bai Hao Yinzhen Tea is a type of Chinese tea and one rated as being the very best type of white tea. Usually, this tea is sold as Silver Needle, again using only the two top leaves for two weeks in March and April. To make this type of white tea, the leaves are not yet fully opened and the buds must be in perfect condition.

Another variety is called Bai Mu Dan Tea, which is also grown in China. This white tea is given the second best rating, also plucked during a two-week period. The difference is that making this type of white tea uses more leaves than buds. Even so, the first two leaves are used along with perfect buds.

Although China is the largest producer of tea, other countries also grow white tea such as India. This country’s version of white tea is called Darjeeling white tea, which is delicate but with a slight muscatel flavor. The unique flavor is delicious and this white tea has several grades so when buying white tea from India, it is imperative to purchase only 100% Darjeeling.

Sri Lanka also produces tea, which is called Ceylon, which is a full-bodied black tea. Although Ceylon white tea exists, it is extremely rare, which makes the price extremely expensive. For this type of exotic tea, the color is light and the flavor has a slight hint of honey.

Remember that if you decide to purchase White Persian Melon Tea not only does the loose tea base, regardless of type need to be the finest grown but the melon nectar also needs to be exceptional. That way, the tea overall is amazing.

Blended Melon Nectar

For the best flavor and aroma, you should look for White Persian Melon Tea that is made with a blend of melon nectar to include cantaloupe and honeydew.

Choosing the highest quality melon nectar ensures the subtle sweet flavor of the melon is enjoyed and antioxidants untouched but without the melon overtaking the flavor of the tea.

Tips for Buying Tea

The goal in choosing high quality White Persian Melon Tea is to purchase tea that tastes like tea with a hint of melon. However, when you purchase quality tea, you also get all the health benefits that come from the powerful antioxidants. In fact, of all tea, regardless of type, White Persian Melon Tea is the healthiest made.

White tea does not go through fermentation like other types of teas do so the level of antioxidants is left alone in a natural state. These antioxidants are vital to health, fighting free radicals that move through the body and cause serious damage. These molecules carry oxygen as a byproduct of the digestive system.

Fighting Free Radicals

Even though the body produces free radicals, if they are not controlled, they do damage to DNA and the cellular level of the body. As a result, people experience faster aging and can develop major diseases. This is why eating fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as other foods high in antioxidants is essential. Then, drinking tea that has a high level of antioxidants is a bonus.

The antioxidant that white tea contains is called epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG, which is known to be one of the strongest of all known antioxidants. A tremendous amount of research has been done on tea and antioxidants, showing that both white and green teas can actually slow down the aging process and prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and even cancer.

Then, melon nectar used to create White Persian Melon Tea contains another type of antioxidant called GliSODin.

The GliSODin antioxidant works by neutralizing free radicals but it also stimulates the body to produce its own antioxidants so you get double the benefit.

It does not matter if you have enjoyed tea for many years or are just now starting to drink it – one type of tea definitely worth experiencing is white tea. The flavor is delicate and slightly sweet, making it appealing to a large number of people who want something less strong than black tea.

An amazing choice made with loose white tea is called White Persian Melon Tea, which is still delicate but with a hint of fruit. In fact, of all healthy tea on the market today, this variety of white tea is one of the most refreshing. Best of all, this exotic tea is versatile, making it a great choice hot or cold.

Health Benefits

In addition to White Persian Melon Tea being delicious, it offers many health benefits. For one thing, Chinese white tea has long been used to promote a healthy immune system, which means the body can more effectively fight off infection. Therefore, drinking white tea during cold and flu season can lower risk of becoming ill.

Additionally, white tea, just as, Chinese green tea is loaded with antioxidants, which have been studied for a long time and show to fight major illnesses such as heart disease, high cholesterol, and even cancer. These antioxidants fight off free radicals in the body that do damage to DNA and the cellular system.

During digestion, free radicals are produced in the body. However, if they spiral out of control, they can do tremendous damage, which speeds up the aging process and produces disease. Therefore, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as other foods high in antioxidants and drinking tea are highly effective in fighting free radicals.

GliSODin Antioxidant

In addition to enjoying green tea and white tea, you can also look at blends, again one being White Persian Melon Tea. The reason this particular blend is so beneficial is that in addition to antioxidants from the tea, melon also contains antioxidants, one called GliSODin, which helps neutralize free radicals.

Another benefit of GliSODin is its ability to stimulate the body to produce more natural antioxidants. Numerous studies show that protecting the body against oxidative damage and poor cellular health caused by free radicals, antioxidants such as GliSODin are imperative. This particular antioxidant is so powerful that many skincare companies are now adding it to creams and lotions, as well as pharmaceutical companies using it in topical treatments.

Melon is also high in Vitamins A and C, as well as lycopene and beta carotene. Therefore, one of the healthiest forms of tea you can purchase is the White Persian Melon Tea. While this blend is more expensive than most others are, it is an investment worth making.

Locating White Tea Blends

The greatest challenge associated with White Persian Melon Tea is finding it. Because white tea is very rare, being harvested only one time a year, this is a difficult tea to find. Then, considering that the number of Camellia sinensis plants designated to white tea production compared to bushes used to make loose green tea, loose black tea, and loose oolong tea, it is easy to see why white tea is rare.

However, as white tea becomes more in demand, we are starting to see the number of tea gardens increasing. Even with this, the bushes take years to reach maturity. That means if all of the tea gardens planted thousands of new plants, it would still be several years before white tea would be harvested, processed, and then exported around the world.

Online Buying Tips

Then when you look at the rarity of White Persian Melon Tea, you can imagine how hard it is to find. Some local teashops will order this particular blend but that too is rare. For that reason, and to ensure you purchase only the highest quality, you would have more success by looking for white tea and White Persian Melon Tea online. A few helpful tips when looking at different tea companies include:

Only purchase loose tea, no tea bags. The price would be comparable but tea in tea bags is dust, a much lower quality tea than loose leaf tea.

White tea should be fluffy, not compact so you should be able to see it in person or in photos

The leaves of quality white tea are slightly silver in appearance

White tea should have a delicate aroma and if you purchase a blend, the white tea base should be the stronger flavor and aroma than the added ingredient

Remember, you might luck out and find quality white tea and blends locally but if not, you can search through a number of online tea companies. In fact, more and more people are now shopping online in that the possibilities are greater and the process more convenient.

The only negative aspect of purchasing tea online is that you cannot see or taste the tea prior to buying. For this reason, you always want to purchase tea of any type through a reputable company. You will even find that some tea companies have samplers they can send out for a nominal fee. That way, you can taste a number of teas before choosing one or two you love at which time you can place a normal order.

Guarantee on Buying Tea

Additionally, if you buy tea online, make sure you always choose a company that offers a money back guarantee. In this case, if you end up with tea you do not like or an inferior product, you could return the unused portion and get your money in return.

Without doubt, using the internet increases the odds of finding white tea and White Persian Melon Tea but expect to face some challenge. Since this particular blend is so rare, it is hard to find but once you do, chances are you would be hooked for life.

An excellent option is called Golden Moon Tea’s White Persian Melon, which is made with only the finest loose white tea known, as well as quality melon nectar. The price for this blend is reasonable and most companies that sell it offer a money back guarantee.

Today, both China and Japan are responsible for producing the largest quantity of green tea. However, other countries also produce delicious flavors. For example, Ceylon green tea is produced in Sri Lanka, which actually has more of a malty or nutty flavor and a fuller body than tea grown in Asia.

Green tea is also produced in India, which is called Darjeeling. This variety of green tea still has the grassy flavor found in Asian tea but it also has a muscatel flavor, which makes it distinct. Another variety of green tea produced in India is called Assam, which has a medium body with a hint of honey.

Vietnam and Korean Green Tea

In Vietnam, some of the world’s best green tea is grown but most people have no idea. This particular type of green tea is very different from tea grown in China and Japan, offering a much richer flavor. In fact, green tea grown in Vietnam almost tastes bitter at first but if you hold a small amount in the mouth, it mellows.

Then, Korea is also a producer of green tea, which is high quality and delicious. For this, the leaves are the first plucking, which makes the tea extremely delicate and light. You will find that Hadong produces the finest green tea in Korea, which is all grown and processed by hand.

Australian Green Tea

Interestingly, green tea is also produced in Australia, which is a relatively new country growing this type of healthy tea. However, the majority of green tea grown in Australia is for the country’s own use, meaning that not much is exported. Even so, the Australian people are working hard to grow greater quantities of the type of green tea produced, known as Jasmine tea.

Kenyan Green Tea

Even Kenya is known for producing green tea, which as a fruitier and more floral flavor. This particular type of green tea is only recently being introduced to the United States so the best place to purchase it is online through reputable tea companies.
